Jay Electronica’s Album Is Under Fire From Top Journalists

This was originally posted on Hypefresh. Date3/17/2020

Jay Electronica has been going back and forth with Peter Rosenberg and Joe Budden on Twitter

Roc Nation representer and Louisiana rapper, Jay Electronica is defending his brand new album against Hip-Hop's elite journalists. On March 13, 2020, Jay Electronica finally delivered his highly anticipated debut album, The Written Testimony. This is the first full-length project from Electronica since Exhibit C in 2011. The Written Testimony is a 10 track album with features Jay-Z, Travis Scott, and The Dream. Jay-Z is not listed on the track list as a feature, but he appears on 8 of the 10 songs. The album received high praise from fans, but some of the biggest voices in rap media had their critiques.

Jay Electronica vs Peter Rosenberg

Peter Rosenberg, co-host of the "Ebro In The Morning on Hot 97" went to Twitter to express his thoughts on a particular line from Jay's new album. Rosenberg quotes Electronica on a line that references the Synagogue of Satan. The bar reads: "My feet might fail me, my heart might ail me /The synagogues of Satan might accuse or jail me". This is a line from a song released by Electronica titled "better in tune w the infinite" back in 2014Rosenberg goes on to say he was not feeling this line as a person that practices the Jewish religion.

Rosenberg then realized that he quoted the wrong line. He intended to quote a line from "Ghost Of Soulja Slim", the second track on The Written Testimony. The line states: "The synagogue of Satan want me to hang by my collar".

Jay Electronica obviously did not accept that critique peacefully. He responded on Twitter that Rosenberg is only chasing 'clout' with his opinion. Electronica is a man of his word and he stands by everything he said. He then goes on to invite himself on the Hot 97 radio show to discuss the lyrics and his new album.

and btw, @Rosenbergradio if you REALLY wanna get into it, we are willing to hold a discussion in a PUBLIC FORUM on The Synagogue of Satan and it’s meaning with any Scholars of Theology you would like to bring. until then. STFU

Rosenberg accepts Electronica's request and welcomes him to the show to discuss.

Jay Electronica vs Joe Budden

The Twitter wars did not stop with Rosenberg. Joe Budden, former rapper and current host of State of The Culture on Revolt and his self titled podcast, had his own input on The Written Testimony. This predicament started with a tweet from a fan questioning Budden's critique of Electronic's new album. The cast of the Joe Budden Podcast do not think this is an actual debut album from Electronica because of the abundance of Jay-Z's presence on the album.

Jay Electronica agreed with the fan with a clip of DaBaby eating some hot wings on First We Feast's Hot Ones, and directs it at Rory Farell one of the co-host on the Joe Budden Podcast.

Joe Budden stands up for his friend and co worker. Joe claims Electronica was 'mopped' on his own album by Jay-Z.

Electronica responds that he never even heard an album from Joe:

i never heard your albums bro. may Allah bless your career as a journalist. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Joe claps back and takes Electronica off of his own debut album!:

Jay Electronica ends the back and forth and invites himself on to their show when he states that he will be "lighting up that next podcast episode". He lets everyone know that Drake is his 'Spirit Animal'.

make sure yall give me my credit for lighting up that next podcast episode too. #DrakeIsMySpiritAnimal
